Vodafone Red Hot launched earlier today as a completely new way of getting the latest and greatest phones on contract every 12 months. It's different from the way most contracts work in the way that you are leased the phone for the time of the contract, in essence you do not own the phone, you simply rent it for a time and then return it when the contract is over.

Being a 12 month plan opposed to the 24 month contracts that are all too common on most smartphones these days you'd be expected to pay more for this luxury. £59 per month for an iPhone 5 may seem a lot, but when you throw in the unlimited calls, texts and a pretty huge 2GB internet and 2GB WiFi plus no upfront cost for the phone it starts to look better. However with a normal contract you'd own the phone after your contract, this isn't the case with Vodafone Red Hot. The monthly charge includes insurance, but should you return the phone damaged or not report it stolen/lost within 48 hours you could be faced with a charge for the whole phone.
