Maxima Charging Station
The Maxima Charging Station is a new solution for all you eco-minded techies. It's a charging dock that comes with a a whole universe of connectivity options to suit almost every phone. It comes in an eco friendly styled box, claiming that the charging station is up to 60% more efficient, and to charge 3 devices at once. The actual station is quite simple; a plastic body, with 3 outputs on the bottom, for the different charging adapters. It also has just one input on the bottom for power. There are 15 different charging adapters, ranging from 'old Nokias' to Micro USB. There is infact no charging adapter for apple products, despite the fact they advertise an iPhone 4 on their photos. To overcome this, it comes with a female USB adapter, so you can plug any existing USB lead into it. Behind where the charging devices sit, there is a white light, which only appears when a device is charging. The light pulses when the device is fully charged.
When three phones are plugged in, there is a difficult squeeze to get all three in a row. A small space, along with the fact that larger screens are becoming ever more popular, means that this is not very suitable. The structure is a nice glossy black, with rubber flaps across the top, from which the charging cables come out. There is also a nice metal bar across the back, for the phones to rest on. The phone will sit slightly down into the dock, due to the rubber flaps, however these are quite rigid, so the phone will not completely sink down. Also, the built quality is good, and does not creak, however the glossy black is quite a big dust attracter, nothing that a quick polish wont overcome however!
Overall, we are going to give the Maxima Charging Station a 7/10, lowered from 8/10, due to the fact that apple products do not charge what so ever, even with the female USB lead. It is currently available at £14.99 from www.mobilefun.co.uk , and is a throughly recommended purchase, as long as you don't aquire an iphone / ipod touch!
